Hello everyone, and Happy February! I thought for the weekly post, I would take you through my life a little bit! As a college student, I have a lot of classes, performances, and events going on all at once, so this post is gonna be a big FAQ, promotion of some events, and how life as a music student has been going!
A little general info
As far as general information goes, I am a senior performance major at Millikin University, graduating in May 2022! I will be getting my Bachelors in Music Performance with a Composition Certificate. Ultimately, I hope to get my Master's in Music Theory/Composition. This semester I am taking 6 classes and 15 credits total. I am very excited for the months ahead as I get to play in some really amazing performances and opportunities!
How long have I been playing clarinet?
I started playing clarinet when I was in the fourth grade, so that means I must have been 9 or 10 years old. Now I am 22, which also means I have been playing for 12-13 years! That is just crazy to think about:)
Any concerts/events coming up?
Yes, actually, a lot! I think it would be best to put these events in a list, so here we go:
February 26: Millikin University Clarinet Day - we will be doing masterclasses, lectures, and performances, including the premiere of my Clarinet Choir piece called Eccentric Shades! If you are interested, here is the sign up link!:
March 6: Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert: Community - This MSWE concert will feature the Normal-West High School Wind Ensemble and the Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble in one giant combined concert! More details on stream links will come later!
April 9: Kody's Senior Recital - yes, the time has come! My senior clarinet recital will take place this April, more details on stream links to come soon.
April 12: Millikin Clarinet Choir Recital - This recital will feature me and my fellow peers performing some music we have been commissioned and have been preparing! If stream links will be provided, I will add them here.
April 29: Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert: Our Planet - This concert will feature the Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble and others as we dive into our Earth on a musical level, exploring what has become and what will on this planet we call home. Ticket and link info to come!
June 28-July 1: International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest - the Millikin Clarinet Choir will be performing at this year's ClarinetFest at Reno/Lake Tahoe, Nevada! We will be performing works by the great composers Sy Brandon, Alice Jones, and myself! I am so excited to be able to premiere my music at a national convention!

What classes am I taking this semester?
This semester, I am taking Beginning Conducting, Introduction to Counterpoint, Introduction to Film Scoring, Intermediate Composition, Clarinet Pedagogy, as well as participating in various ensembles and taking the necessary clarinet lessons and such. I am happy to be finally taking all music classes my senior year!
